Why ZERYON Systems — and What to Expect Here

An introduction. Who’s behind this, where the idea came from, and what this brand stands for: AI you can explain, verify, and stand behind.

I’ve spent over a decade building learning systems — and writing about them. For a long time my work centered on one question: not „did people click through the training?“ but „can they actually do it when it counts?“ That’s an EdTech question. But the deeper I worked with AI inside those systems, the clearer it became that the hard part was never the learning. It was every place a machine makes a decision a human has to answer for.

That realization is the reason ZERYON Systems exists.

The lesson from EdTech that applies everywhere

In learning systems I kept seeing the same thing: it isn’t the model that sinks projects. It’s the missing trail of evidence. A system recommends something, and no one can explain why. It scores someone, and no one can defend the score. It „works“ — right up until someone asks: „Can we prove this was correct?“

That question doesn’t stay in the learning world. It shows up in every AI that touches a decision inside a company — in credit, in hiring, in risk, in operations. And in the US, the people asking it aren’t only regulators. They’re plaintiffs‘ attorneys, boards, auditors, and customers.

That’s the gap ZERYON Systems closes — well beyond learning.

Why this matters in the US market

The US doesn’t have a single, sweeping federal AI law — and that’s exactly why the risk is easy to underestimate. What you have instead is a patchwork that’s tightening fast:

  • The NIST AI Risk Management Framework has become the de facto standard for what „responsible AI“ looks like — voluntary, but increasingly what partners, insurers, and courts expect you to have followed.
  • NYC’s Local Law 144 already requires bias audits for automated hiring tools, with civil penalties per day of violation — and a 2025 state audit signaled tougher scrutiny ahead.
  • A growing set of state laws (Colorado, Texas, and others) is moving toward disclosure and accountability for automated decisions.
  • And if you sell into Europe, the EU AI Act applies regardless of where you’re headquartered.

In practice, the first test of your AI usually isn’t a regulator. It’s a lawsuit, a board question, or a customer’s security review. In all three, the same thing decides the outcome: can you show your work?

What ZERYON Systems stands for

ZERYON Systems builds AI layers on top of your existing systems — and advises on how to deploy them — around three principles I treat as non-negotiable:

  • Deterministic: Same input, same verifiable decision. No outputs nobody can reproduce.
  • Fail-closed: When a decision can’t be made safely, the safe default takes over — not a guess that gets expensive later.
  • Auditable: From the call to the result, every decision is traceable and provable — the artifact that holds up in front of a board, a regulator, and a courtroom.

No hype, no black box. Evidence over assertion.

What you’ll find here

ZERYON Systems has three areas, and this blog runs alongside them:

  • Systems — what we build: AI layers that integrate with your environment instead of replacing it.
  • Consulting — strategic AI advisory. Where AI is genuinely useful, safe, and provable for you — and where it isn’t. The Consulting Navigator maps your needs in a few questions.
  • The Lab — interactive tools that make AI decisions tangible and checkable.

On the blog I write about the space between the promise and the practice: documented cases where ungoverned AI got expensive, the shifting regulatory reality on both sides of the Atlantic, and concrete ways to deploy AI so you can actually defend it.

Who this is for

For companies that don’t want to „do AI“ because everyone’s doing it — but because they need to solve a real problem and prove the result. And for consultants and firms who want to productize exactly that kind of defensible maturity for their clients.

If that resonates, let’s talk. In a short intro call we’ll map where AI genuinely holds up in your environment — and where it doesn’t. Book an intro call » · or start with the Consulting Navigator.

Glad you’re here.
