back is an explicit act by the operator: a recovery tool severs the unreadable remainder, moves the
affected files unchanged into quarantine and writes the intervention itself into the log — with the

note that the number of lost entries cannot be determined. The log never truncates itself
automatically, under any circumstances. If the check indicates an intervention rather than damage,
